Unexpected Inspirations: From Tory Burch Hardware to the Creation of the Bar Necklace

"Wait. I would really love this as a breastmilk pendant!"

Those were my exact thoughts after the hardware on my Tory Burch wallet fell off.

So naturally, I started playing around with the idea.

But coming up with new pieces is always a challenge. Our process is very tedious and I often find myself scrapping ideas because SOMETHING goes wrong along the way. But I really liked this idea and I didn’t want to give up on it.

So I started designing by toying with attachment points… I wanted my mammas to be able to fit a chain through the hole and wanted it to be wide enough so you can swap out different style chains. I made a mock opening with foam and sent it to my vendor.

I designed potential platforms within the piece... we had to test MANY different "stair" depths to get it just right. (I even made play-doh prototypes to model the interiors!)

... And came up with different prototypes

And finally, I ended up with a piece that was elegant, dainty, and perfect:

The Bar Necklace
